Making Houston Safer, Together.

HoustonGunSafety.org began as a project of Congregation Beth Israel (a Reform Jewish synagogue,) its Social Justice Committee and members of Houston’s Muslim community, led by the Minaret Foundation.
The Houston Police Department, Houston Mayor’s Office, Houston City Council Member Abbie Kamin, Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and Moms Demand Action joined the project shortly thereafter, in an effort to work together to educate the public about how to store and keep guns safely.
Our Mission: To work together to educate the community about safe gun storage and why it is vitally important, to provide avenues for community members to get the tools they need to safely store their guns, and ultimately, to reduce injuries and deaths caused by guns that have not been stored safely.
